Forks Senior Center Knitters for Healthy Babies Day

Programs and activities offered at the Forks Senior Center are made possible through collaborations with non-profits and governmental agencies. As funding partners, their grant and in-kind support has contributed to the ongoing program successes and services available to area seniors and their families.

Albion Community Foundation

The mission of the Albion Community Foundation is to strengthen the greater Albion area by cultivating community assets to enhance our quality of life. It helps individuals, families, businesses, and non-profit agencies achieve their charitable and financial goals by providing tools and resources that make giving easy, flexible, and effective. The Forks Senior Center has an established endowment fund with the Albion Community Foundation.

Community Foundation Alliance of Calhoun County

The mission of the Community Foundation Alliance of Calhoun County is “To improve the quality of life and access to opportunity in Calhoun County, with an emphasis on youth.” As a 501(c)(3) organization it provides a countywide platform for philanthropy. Through grant awards and collaborations, the interests of Calhoun County residents have been served since 1998 by the Community Foundation Alliance.

Albion-Homer United Way

The Albion-Homer United Way, whose mission is “To increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another by uniting together to improve lives”, raises funds from generous individuals and businesses through an Annual Campaign. A trusted panel of community volunteers reviews grants proposals and in turn distributes the funds to programs and services that serve the critical needs of local residents in Albion, Homer, Sheridan Township, and Albion Township.

City of Albion

The Forks Senior Center receives support through the City of Albion Recreation Millage. The executive director represents the FSC membership at the monthly meetings of the Albion Recreation Department.

Calhoun County Senior Millage

The Senior Millage provides funding for services for seniors in Calhoun County aged 60 years and older. Citizens of Calhoun County have supported the Senior Millage, thereby assuring the Calhoun County Office of Senior Services the means to fund and coordinate crucial services to promote independence and freedom for seniors to stay within their homes.

CareWell Services Southwest (formerly the Region 3B Area Agency on Aging)

The CareWell Services Southwest is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) agency that receives funding through the Older Americans Act in order to provide information and access to services for older adults, persons with disabilities, and family caregivers residing in Barry and Calhoun Counties. Governed by the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging, programs and services which enable older adults to maintain their independence with dignity through person-centered services are funded. Area Agency on Aging Region 3B provides free MMAP Benefits Counselling to assist seniors in Calhoun County with Medicare, Medicaid, Part D and other insurance needs. As part of this program, the Forks Senior Center has a benefits counselor available by appointment.

Senior Health Partners

Senior Health Partners, whose mission is “Improving the Health and Well-being of Older Adults”, is a community partnership of Battle Creek Health System, CentraCare, Area Agency on Aging, and Summit Pointe. The services provided in the Health and Wellness Clinic at Burnham Brook Community Center are offered by Senior Health Partners and various local health care providers for the purpose of senior health promotion, prevention and education.

Healthways SilverSneakers® Fitness Program

The Healthways SilverSneakers® Fitness Program, whose mission statement is “creating a healthier world–person, one organization, one community at a time”, is the nation’s leading fitness program for older adults. Custom-designed SilverSneakers® classes are taught by certified instructors .

The Forks Senior Center maintains professional membership and collaborations with the following organizations to promote programs and education vital to the physical, mental, and social well-being of seniors served.

Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce, the voice of Albion business since 1923, is a private, not-for-profit membership organization. The Chamber, located at 416 South Superior Street in historic downtown Albion, serves as the front door to the community for information and resources.

Michigan Nonprofit Association

For 20 years, Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) has focused on increasing the capacity of Michigan’s nonprofits to serve, strengthen, and transform communities. The MNA guides nonprofit and community organizations through education and collaborative opportunities to strengthen their roles as providers of vital resources to Michigan’s community and economy.

Nonprofit Alliance

The Nonprofit Alliance is dedicated to strengthening and supporting the nonprofit sector of Calhoun, Barry and Branch counties. The mission of the Nonprofit Alliance is to deliver knowledge and tools to help area nonprofits foster excellence and enhance the quality of life in their communities. The Nonprofit Alliance at Kellogg Community College provides technical assistance, training, resources and membership opportunities and benefits.

Nonprofit Network

The Nonprofit Network located in Jackson, Michigan, within the United Way Building provides technical assistance, training, resources and membership opportunities and benefits.

Michigan Association of Senior Centers

Michigan Association of Senior Centers is a dynamic network of senior centers committed to growth, excellence, and strategic partnerships. Its mission is “To promote the growth, development and expansion of senior centers and to advance professional senior center leadership.”
